With the release of Office 2024 on October 1, 2024, consumers and businesses can enjoy their favorite productivity tool at even greater performance and enhanced features. This release comes three years after its last version, 2021. Read on to learn what’s changed.Â
What’s New in Microsoft Office 2024Â
The new Office 2024 will feature a new default look based off user feedback, designed to provide a consistent visual experience across all applications in the Microsoft Productivity Suite. Â
Here are other major updates to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote below:Â
OutlookÂ
Â
Outlook has had improvements to its search capabilities to allow users to quickly find what they’re looking for. Â
On top of that, there is a new accessibility checker so that users can easily check their emails for any accessibility issues.Â
ExcelÂ
Â
Excel performance and speed have been optimized to handle multiple workbooks open at the same time.Â
Additionally, you have new features that allow you to use text and arrays in worksheets more efficiently. Effortlessly add images in one of two ways. You can paste them directly into Excel or you can use the IMAGE function with no disruption to formatting. If you have an Android device, you can also insert pictures directly into Excel (This functionality also works in Word and PowerPoint).Â
Lastly, you can quickly analyze diverse data sets with dynamic arrays in charts that automatically update with your array recalculations.Â
PowerPointÂ
With the new Office 2024, you can embed live camera feeds directly into your PowerPoint presentations. You can do this in two ways. With Recording Studio, record your presentation in PowerPoint, export the video file and add it into the presentation. With cameo, insert your live camera feed directly and add effects including formatting, transition, and style changes.Â
If you want to add closed captions or subtitles to your video go to Playback > Insert Captions.Â
Other Notable UpdatesÂ
- If Word 2024 unexpectedly closes, Word will automatically open the document with the most recent unsaved changes.Â
- In OneNote, view inking experience in a full screen mode with pen-focused view.Â
- OpenDocument format (ODF) 1.4 is now supported under Office 2024.Â
